since detention doesn't really make a difference to most — in my school we get debits for things we do not do like homework, or speaking out of turn in class. This is quite effective as many students don't repeat the mistake again and after a specific amount of debits ex. 5 debits = detention during breaktime.
this is quite effective in my opinion and the school handles student disruptions well.
