Earthquakes are relevant to Utah's physical geography because the surface of the Earth is made up of tectonic plates and when those plates move they can build mountains or cause volcanoes to erupt. This means that the motion of the tectonic plates will change the physical geography of the place of that lies above the tectonic plates.
