What is an equation of the line that passes

through the point (1, 3) and is parallel to
the line 3x + y = 9?

Answer: y=-3x+6

Explanation:

simplify ax+by=c into slope intercept which is y=mx+b

y=-3x+9.

since slopes are the same in parallel equations, graph the point (1,3) and go up 3, and left 1. the y intercept should be 6. I went left one because it's a negative slope, so in order for the line to be negative, you'd go left, not right. y= -3x+6
