What effect does an increase or decrease in the PH of the cell cytoplasm have on protein and the ability to function?

Answer: It will result in negatively affecting the function of the protein itself.

Explanation: When pH changes in any way, it effects the hydrogen bonding, which is what is used for the tertiary and quaternary structures. This is what causes the proteins to change shape, which in result is a negative effect on the protein.
