You release a ball with a radius of 1 inch into a pipe as shown. How many times will the ball rotate before it falls out the other end of the pipe?

Explanation:

So we know that the length of the pipe = 5 feet.

Now we have to convert feet to inches.

5x12 inch = 60 inches.

We also know that a circumference of the ball will be 2πr = 2π×1 inch = 2π inch.

Now we must remember the number of rotation by the ball before it comes out of the pipe. So we can set this up as total length/circumference

60 inch/2π inch=9.55 inches

So this means that the ball had a 9 rotation and a 1 partial rotation, so in total 10 rotation.
