I'm assuming you're asking if x = -3 is a solution to the inequality of 5-x < 8

Let's find out. We'll replace every x with -3 and simplify

5 - x < 8

5 - ( x ) < 8

5 - ( -3 ) < 8 .... replaced x with -3

5 + 3 < 8

8 < 8

The last inequality is false, so the original inequality is false when x = -3

Therefore, x = -3 is not a solution to the inequality
