Containers of ice cream are sold by volume, not by weight. Some ice

cream companies pump air into the ice cream before packaging it.
Why does this practice make the ice cream more expensive to the
consumer?

Answer:

This makes the Amount of ice cream less than the volume it occupies.

If you were to buy x amount of ice cream for $5 but then find out 50% of it is air, you are really paying $5 for 1/2x amount of ice cream or $10 for X
