I am focusing my doctoral research on corporate social responsibility in emerging markets namely Azerbaijan. My study aims to shed light on how political, social, and economic factors shape the corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing nations. Which theoretical framework would work best for my research focus?
From my reading, it seems that (1) neo-institutional theory or (2) the "implicit or explicit" framework proposed by Matten and Moon (2008) are two prominent choices for my research. Please let me know what you think about this. I'd be grateful for any feedback you may offer.
