Tertiary consumers eat the secondary consumers. A final link in the food chain are decomposers, which break down the organic matter of the tertiary consumers and release nutrients into the soil. There is flow of energy from Sun ------> Producer ------> Herbivore -------> Carnivore ------> Decomposers.
