Hey there!

Basically the word “distance” means subtract, so that either means you’re taking away or going downward (like to the (LEFT side of your number line since you’re counting DOWN)


So, question reads….

Find the DISTANCE BETWEEN 23 & -16


That means your equation should look like:


23 - (-16)

Simplify it:

23 - (-16)
= 23 - -16

= 23 + 16

= 39

Therefore, your answer should be:

39
