first substitute the x and z values with their corresponding numbers:
-8-(-11)
then distribute the -(-11):
-8+11
then subtract 8 from 11 to get 3:
11-8=3

hi

X - (-Z) = X + -1* -Z

= X + Z

If X = -8 and Z = -11

so X+Z = - 8 + (-11)

= -8-11

= -19
