Fire cake was a type of bread eaten by soldiers in the Revolutionary Wars (French, Indian and American Revolutionary Wars). The bread was made from flour, water and salt and it was cooked on a rock in the fire. This was the only food available back then for men on the battlefield because there weren’t enough resources to make other meals. Also, back then they couldn’t preserve food, so the only solution was to make dry meal.
