In a right triangle, the cosine of one of the acute angles is

(adjacent side)/(hypotenuse).

cos (thirty-five°) = x / twelve.

Look up the cosine of (thirty-five°) on your calculator, or in a book, or on Floogle.

I'll bet you can handle it now
