the six major processes of the digestive system, in order, are as follows: ingestion, propulsion, mechanical breakdown, chemical digestion, absorption, and elimination.

1) food is ingested, chewed, and swallowed

2) muscular contractions move the food through the alimentary canal and physically break it down into tiny particles

3) digestive fluids chemically break down the nutrients from food into molecules small enough for absorption

4) indigestible substances are eliminated as waste

hope i helped! good luck.
