What was significant about george washington's leading of his troops across the delaware river on christmas night in 1776?

Answer:
They caught some inebriated (can’t say Drun-k for some reason) Prussian Mercenaries with there pants down. In other words they were able to do significant damage without losing many (or any at all I don’t remember) men.
