If an employee works 52 hours in one week, it means that the amount that the employee would earn in the first 40 hours is 40 × 8.5 = $340

The number of hours left is 52 - 40 = 12 hours. The amount of money that he would earn in 12 hours is 12 × 1.5 = $18

Total amount of money that he earns for the week 340 + 18 = $358
