Answer: 36 cm^2

Explanation:

Area of a rectangle = length x width.

The area of the blue rectangle is

12 cm x 5 cm= 60 cm^2

The area of the white rectangle is

8 cm x 3 cm = 24 cm ^2

Subtract the area of the white rectangle from the blue rectangle.

60 cm^2 - 24 cm^2 = 36 cm^2

Answer:

Just find the area of the big one, and then subtract the area of the small one. This will give you the difference in area between the big and the small one (or in other words, the shaded region).

5 * 12 = 60cm ^ 2

3 * 8 = 24cm ^ 2

60 - 24 = Area of the Shaded Region (cm ^ 2)
