In the northern Mexico , the climate is arid but thanks to irrigation the agriculture is well developed. In the southern part of the Pacific Coast, the beautiful nature and tropical climate led to development of tourism. The Gulf coastal plain is rich in petroleum and natural gas which transformed the region into an oil-producing one.
