Why is charles darwin's theory more convincing than Lamarck’s theory?

Darwin's: ... Scientists find Darwin's theory more convincing because it better explains the observed data and physical evidence. There is no evidence to support Lamarck's theory (that acquired traits might be passed on to offspring) and much evidence that genetic mutations may be passed on.
