let the number be x
x + (x+3) = 33
x + x + 3 = 33
2x + 3 = 33
2x = 33-3
2x = 30
x = 30/2 = 15
remember that x is greater than another number by 3 and x is 15
therefore the other number is 15+3=18

the two number are 15 and 18 :)
