How do you correctly add and subtract functions, explain in a way an idiot can understand.

add and subtract the top

Explanation:

if the bottom numbers are the same then just add or subtract the top number. If the bottom numbers are different then you have to change them to match.

to do that just take one fraction and multiply both halves by a number to make the two bottom numbers match.

example:

1/10+1/5

Take the fraction with the smaller bottom number (1/5) and multiply both halves by 2 so the bottom numbers match.

1/5 x 2 = 2/10

Now replace the number thats changed in the equation to the results.

1/10+2/10

add the top numbers

1/10+2/10=3/10

you divide by that opposing factor like 8 divided by (6) ^+ 400
