Describe in detail 2 factors that led to so many deaths in WWI?

One reason is because WW1 was worldwide, Europe, Africa and Asia are all places where battles took place. The second reason is that there were multiple new inventions and new deadly devices, new inventions throughout the war is also a part of this. Not to mention the grueling trench warfare hundreds of thousands had to endure.
