multiplying equation (1) by 2 we get,

6x + 2y = 64...(3)

Adding eq(2) and (3) we get,

6x + 2y = 64

+ 3x - 2y = 17

9x. = 81

therefore, x = 81/9

therefore, x = 9

substituting value of x in eq( 1)

3 * 9 + y = 32

27 + y = 32

y = 32 - 27

y = 5
