Where does all the mass of wood go in a fire after the fire burns itself out?

It turns into smoke and ash.
It disappears.
It turns into plasma and remains that way.

It turns into smoke and ash.

In reality it turns into fuel which become energy for the fire, but what is produced from that is smoke and ash.
