Nicole wants to plant grass in her backyard. Her backyard is in the shape of a rectangle. Its length is 28 and its width is 25 feet. Suppose each pack of seed covers 14 square feet. How many packs of seed will she need to cover the backyard ?​

The area of a rectangle is equal to the length times the width

area = length * width

So plugging in our numbers

area = 28 ft * 25 ft

area = 700 sqft

sqft means square feet or ft^2

We know each pack of seeds will cover 14 sqft, so the question is, how many times does 14 go into 700?

number of packs = 700 sqft / 14 sqft per pack

number of packs = 50 packs
