|-x| is the same as |x|

We can break this down into the piecewise function


|\text{x}| = \begin{cases}\text{x} \ \ \ \ \text{ when x } \ge 0\\-\text{x} \ \ \text{ when x } < 0\end{cases}

Graphing both pieces leads to what is shown in the image below.
