What is the "loophole" provided by the 13th Amendment or, in other words, what is the one exception where slavery can continue after 1865?

Im not sure on this one but I do think so for what I can remember is that during that time if a person was convicted of a crime, they were to serve the person for free that they have wronged. Usually the person convicted were african american and many racist people falsely accused them to gain free unpaid service from them
