y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

given slope m = - 2 , then

y = - 2x + c ← is the partial equation

to find c , substitute the point (- 2, - 3 ) into the partial equation

- 3 = - 2(- 2) + c = 4 + c ( subtract 4 from both sides )

- 7 = c

y = - 2x - 7 ← equation of line
