Answer :

  • a = 1 ,b = 5 and c = 9

Given :

  • 3 (1)/(2) \: / 2 (1)/(4) = a (b)/(c) \\

To find :

  • value of a ,b and c

Solution :

Given two fractions in their mixed form and to resolve them ,we shall convert them into improper fractions and then alter the latter fraction into it's reciprocal form and resolve it which would give us an improper fraction and then the mixed fraction form of it would give us the value of a,b and c.

  • 3 (1)/(2) \: / 2 (1)/(4) = a (b)/(c) \\

  • (7)/(2) / (9)/(4) = a (b)/(c) \\

  • (7)/(2) * (4)/(9) = a (b)/(c) \\

  • (14)/(9) = a (b)/(c) \\

  • 1 (5)/(9) = a (b)/(c) \\

Thus, a = 1 , b = 5 and c = 9 .

Answer:

A) a = 1, b = 5, c = 9

Explanation:

Given equation:

3(1)/(2)/ 2(1)/(4)=a(b)/(c)

Convert the mixed numbers into improper fractions by multiplying the whole number by the denominator of the fraction, adding this to the numerator of the fraction, and placing the answer over the denominator:

(3 \cdot 2+1)/(2)/ (2\cdot 4+1)/(4)=a(b)/(c)

Simplify the numerators:

(6+1)/(2)/ (8+1)/(4)=a(b)/(c)

(7)/(2)/ (9)/(4)=a(b)/(c)

Divide the fractions by using the "invert and multiply" rule:

(7)/(2)* (4)/(9)=a(b)/(c)

Multiply the fractions:

(28)/(18)=a(b)/(c)

Divide the numerator and denominator by their highest common factor:

(28/2)/(18/ 2)=a(b)/(c)

(14)/(9)=a(b)/(c)

Simplify:

(9)/(9)+(5)/(9)=a(b)/(c)

1+(5)/(9)=a(b)/(c)

1(5)/(9)=a(b)/(c)

Therefore, the values of a, b and c are:

  • a = 1
  • b = 5
  • c = 9
