In order to find the slope intercept, you can plug the numbers into the pint slope form.

Point slope form is y-y1=m(x-x1)

Y-8=-2(x+1).
*subtracting a negative is the same as adding

Next you simplify by distributing

y-8 = -2x-2

Then add 8 to both sides to get the slope intercept

y = -2x + 6

Answer:

y = - 2x + 6

Explanation:

the equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

given slope m = - 2 , then

y = - 2x + c ← is the partial equation

to find c , substitute the point (- 1, 8 ) into the partial equation

8 = - 2(- 1) + c = 2 + c ( subtract 2 from both sides )

6 = c

y = - 2x + 6 ← equation of line
