One thing that my dad has done for me that has made me happy or thankful in a surprising way was when he took me to see the Northern Lights for my birthday. I had always dreamed of seeing the aurora borealis, the beautiful natural phenomenon of green, purple, and blue lights dancing in the sky. I had seen pictures and videos of it, but I wanted to experience it in person. My dad knew how much I loved astronomy and nature, and he secretly planned a trip for us to Iceland, one of the best places to see the Northern Lights.

He surprised me on the morning of my birthday with two plane tickets and a warm hug. He told me to pack my bags and get ready for an adventure. I was so excited and curious, but he wouldn’t tell me where we were going until we got to the airport. When I saw the destination on the boarding pass, I couldn’t believe it. I hugged him again and thanked him for the best birthday gift ever.

We spent a week in Iceland, exploring its amazing landscapes, culture, and wildlife. We saw geysers, waterfalls, volcanoes, glaciers, and hot springs. We learned about the history and legends of the Icelandic people. We even got to ride on Icelandic horses and see some puffins. But the highlight of the trip was when we went on a night tour to see the Northern Lights. We drove to a remote location away from the city lights, and waited for the sky to darken. Our guide told us that the aurora borealis was unpredictable and not guaranteed, but we hoped for the best.

And then it happened. The sky lit up with a dazzling display of colors and shapes. It was like a magic show, only better. The lights moved and changed in patterns that were mesmerizing and breathtaking. I felt like I was in a dream, or in another world. I looked at my dad and saw him smiling and admiring the spectacle with me. He held my hand and told me that he was happy to share this moment with me. He said that he loved me more than anything, and that he wanted me to always follow my dreams and passions.

This gratitude has affected and motivated me in many ways. It has made me appreciate my dad more for his generosity and kindness. He gave me an unforgettable experience that I will always cherish in my heart. He also showed me how much he supports me and cares about me. He is not only my dad, but also my friend and role model. It has also made me more curious and adventurous, as I want to see more of the world and its wonders. It has also inspired me to learn more about astronomy and nature, as I want to understand how the Northern Lights work and what causes them.

I think this is a heartwarming story that shows how my dad has made a positive impact on my life. Thank you for asking me to reflect on this.
