A city has a population of 270,000 people. Suppose that each year the population grows by 5.5%. What will the population be after 12 years?

(I mainly need to know how to work it out, not necessarily what the answer is)

It's 17,800,000. First I did 5.5*12 and got 66 then I did 270,000*66 and got 17,800,000
