Under certain circumstances, healthcare providers may legally stop resuscitative efforts on a 93-year-old cancer patient found to be apneic and pulseless during CPR. These circumstances include: if the patient has a valid and properly documented Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order; if the patient's family requests the cessation of resuscitation efforts; if the patient's age exceeds 90 years old; or if the patient's condition has not improved after 5 minutes of CPR.
