NL + LM = NM ( substitute given values into the equation )

7x + 4 + 5x + 2 = 30 ( simplify left side )

12x + 6 = 30 ( subtract 6 from both sides )

12x = 24 ( divide both sides by 12 )

x = 2

Then

LM = 5x + 2 = 5(2) + 2 = 10 + 2 = 12
