A delivery truck travels 23 blocks north, 12 blocks west, and 20 blocks south. What is its final displacement (magnitude and direction) from the origin? Assume the blocks are equal length. (Draw it out and note the overall change North/South and East West)

Answer:

3 blocks north, 12 blocks west, or roughly 12.37 blocks

Step-by-step explanation:

To explain ill use up down left right. 23 up, 20 down. the 20 down counteracts 20 of the 23 up, leaving 3 up. The 12 blocks west remains untouched. So 3 north, 12 west

The 12.37 blocks was obtained through a^2+b^2=c^2, but you probably don't need that information considering this is a grid question, I just included it for fun
