I would recommend a gap year. Studies have shown that in the past, when students are given the chance to explore the world and see how the world functions, they come back with a better understanding of themselves and what career they wish to pursue.
If that is not an option, I would personally recommend the student to shadow or work as an intern for as many different career paths as possible. The opportunity to see how a career truly works in the background into experience a “day in the life” may help this student.
