Natural monopolies are monopolies formed in part due to the inherent advantages the leading brand or company has from its first mover advantage or the economies of scale. They typically do not require any government regulation to maintain and can operate at lower costs then potential competitors. They usually can produce the goods and services at the lowest cost and can afford to maintain price and quality standards.
