Can someone help me understand function notation

g(x) = x2 + 2x + 3
g (2)

G(x)=x^2+2x+3 is the function you just have to trade in the 2 for all the x variables so it would look like (2)^2+2(2)+3 and the answer would be 4+4+3 which adds up to 11
