The sum of two numbers is 35 . The sum of 3 times the larger and 6 times the smaller is 132 . Find the numbers

Answer:

The sum of two numbers is 35 x+y=35

The sum of 3 times the largest and 6 times the smallest is 132

3x+6y=132

by substitution:

y =35-x

3x+6(35-x)=132

3x+210-6x=132

-3x=132-210

3x=78

x=26

we calculate y:

x+y=35

26+y=35

y =35-26=9

the numbers are 26 and 9
