Explain. When you have indigestion, the contents of the stomach can back up into the esophagus, which does not contain protective mucus. Why does indigestion produce

a burning sensation in the throat

Answer:

Because, the esophagus does not have the protective tissue that the stomach has, so it burns because of the HCl. Although, it doesn't do much harm to the body....
