Parallel lines have equal slopes , then

y = 3x + c ← is the partial equation of the parallel line

to find c , substitute (3, 4 ) into the partial equation

4 = 3(3) + c = 9 + c ( subtract 9 from both sides )

- 5 = c

y = 3x - 5 ← equation in slope- intercept form

subtract y from both sides

0 = 3x - y - 5 , that is

3x - y - 5 = 0 ← equation of parallel line
