Parentheses first: 6x 5x =30x 6x13=78 so rewrite the equation now -3x +30x +78=240
-3+30 is gonna be 27x. So again, rewrite: 27x +78=240. Now, subtract the 78 to 240. 240-78= 162. Now rewrite: 27x=162
Divide 162 by 27x 162/27= 6. X=6
Hope this helps :)

X=6

-3x+6(5x+13)=240
-3x+30x+78=240
27x+78=240
-78 -78
27x=240
^divide both sides by 27
x=6 cause 27 cancels out.
