8x - 6x - 14 = 6x - 6x - 8 ( simplify both sides )

2x - 14 = - 8 ( add 14 to both sides )

2x - 14 + 14 = - 8 + 14 ( simplify both sides )

2x = 6 ( divide both sides by 2 )
