Find point C on BA such that the ratio of AC to CB is 2:3. Point A is at (-8,-6) and point B is at (2,9)

Explanation:

Using the Pythagorean Theorem comes up with a complicated answer when we're trying to plot a point, so we won't use that (atleast it did for me).

The x distance between the 2 points is 10. A ratio of 2:3 for 10 would be 4:6. Since we're going from A to B, add 4 to the x value of A.

-8 + 4 = -4

The y distance between the 2 points is 15. A ratio of 2:3 for 15 would be 6:9. Since we're going from A to B, add 6 to the y value of A.

-6 + 6 = 0

This shows that the coordinates for C is (-4,0). But always make sure to double check if the point is actually on the line. If it isn't, you did something wrong.
