9x - 38 + 2x + 42 = 180 ( collect like terms on left side )

11x + 4 = 180 ( subtract 4 from both sides )

11x + 4 - 4 = 180 - 4 ( simplify both sides )

11x = 176 ( divide both sides by 11 )


(11)/(11) x =
(176)/(11) , that is

x = 16

Then

∠ F = 2x + 42 = 2(16) + 42 = 32 + 42 = 74°
