The Texas Revolution and the Mexican-American War expanded the territory of the United States by acquiring new land. In the Texas Revolution, Texas gained independence from Mexico and eventually became part of the United States. During the Mexican-American War, the United States gained vast territories, including California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and parts of Colorado and Wyoming, through the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. These territorial acquisitions significantly expanded the size of the United States.
