Rashid wanted to sell some of his board games at his family's garage sale. He set them out on a table. At the end of the day, he figured out how many were sold. Rashid said, "I sold 9 games. That's 3/4 of all the games that were for sale." How many board games were for sale at the beginning of the day?

Answer:

12

Explanation:

9 games are 3/4 of the total number of games.

Let x = total number of games.

3/4 of x = 9

3/4 × x = 9

Multiply both sides by 4/3.

4/3 × 3/4 × x = 4/3 × 9

x = 36/3

x = 12

Answer: 12
