12 x 75.50 = 906
1359 - 906 = 453
75.50 - 25% = 56.625
453 / 56.625 = 8
12+8 =20
The artist sold 20 paintings

Answer:

The artist sold 20 paintings

Explanation:

Total Amount Made = T = $1359

Amount made by selling 12 = A = (12)(75.5) = $906

Now, The remaining amount that she made is,

R = T - A = 1359 - 906 = 453

R = $453

And she makes these $453 by selling the discounted paintings,

The discount is 25% so the price becomes 75% of the original price,

so, The price of discounted paintings is,

P = (0.75)(75.5) = $56.625 per painting,

Hence, the number of these discounted ones is,

R = n(P)

n = R/P

n = 453/56.625

n = 8

In total then, she sold 12 + 8 = 20 paintings.
