to find the digits after the decimal point : pulling down the next digit towards 1, but there is none, so pulling a 0 :

pulling down the next digit (0) :

100 : 12 = 8

8×12 = 96, so subtracting 96 from 100 (4) and pulling down the next digit (0) :

40 : 12 = 3

3×12 = 36, so subtracting 36 from 40 (4) and pulling down the next digit (0) ;

40 : 12 = 3

3×12 = 36, so subtracting 36 from 40 (4) and pulling down the next digit (0) ;

40 : 12 = 3

as we can see, from here on we will be in an endless loop creating 3s.

so, collecting the individual result digits we get

1/12 = 0.083333...
