The Soviet Union aided in the fall of the Russian monarchy, and end of the First World War by providing Russia with peace against Germany. The Soviet Union is also responsible for the first major communistic revolution, and the spread of socialism throughout the 20th century, and played a very large role in defeating Germany in WW2. Following world war 2 they entered a series of proxy wars, and nuclear threats with the US, and their western allies, known as “The Cold War”.
